Dissipative Topologies is an ongoing research-creation project that fuses electromechanical control with the unstable nature of mist. By manipulating airflow and temperature gradients, the work reveals ephemeral, biophilic patterns—swirls, plumes, and drifting formations—that invite trans-meditative observation. At its core, the installation explores how thermodynamic processes can be composed to evoke a sense of presence and attunement.

The piece consists of two containers holding water at different temperatures. Through subtle computational modulation, air and vapor flow between them, producing visual phenomena such as convection cells and laminar streams that arise, merge, and vanish. Rather than presenting a fixed form, the work behaves like an open system: continuously shifting, highly sensitive to ambient conditions, and entangled with its architectural surroundings.
